Our Artists in Venice

An installation by Alfredo Jaar, The End of the World, is now on view in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, In Minor Keys curated by Koyo Kouoh through November 22, 2026. This is Alfredo Jaar's fifth invitation to the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia; his work has been included in the 1986, 2007, 2009, and 2013 editions.

The End of the World (2023) is the result of years of research supported by human geographer and political geologist Adam Bobbette, Jaar brings attention to the struggle for resources – a critical and increasingly significant factor in international conflicts. Central to the work is a 4×4×4 cm cube composed of layered raw materials: cobalt, rare earths, copper, tin, nickel, lithium, manganese, coltan, germanium, and platinum – ten strategic metals vital to digitalization,electromobility, high-tech applications, and storage media. Despite the growing demand for these materials, their extraction is fraught with severe human rights violations and environmental destruction.

Of Woman Born, a solo exhibition by Nalini Malani, is now on view at Maggazini del Sale in Venice, Italy, through November 22, 2026. 

Organized by the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA), Nalini Malani – Of Woman Born is a major site specific commission and official Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. In this large-scale multichannel installation, Malani extends her pioneering "Animation Chamber" series— a multisensorial environment since 2017. The continually appearing and disappearing images transform the heritage site of Magazzini del Sale into a "thought chamber" reverberating with sounds, texts and images on women, myth, and global conflict. The presentation is curated by Roobina Karode, Artistic Director and Chief Curator of the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.
