Public Performance: "Reading by an Artist" by John Clang

On June 26, 2025, during the opening reception of Summer Reads at Galerie Lelong, New York, artist John Clang invited visitors to participate in a reading of anonymous subjects. This marked the New York debut of Clang's ongoing performance series Reading by an Artist. Most recently presented at the Sharjah Biennial 16, Clang adopts the technique of zi wei dou shu (紫微斗数)-a philosophy dating back to imperial China to forecast life events based on birth timings-to create a metaphysical portrait of an individual sitter.
