In Red Body II (2024), Pinaree Sanpitak envelops the viewer in a field of deep, saturated red—its hue drawn from the vivid garments worn by Sufi dancers performing as whirling dervishes. The color evokes intensity, devotion, and inner transformation, themes that resonate throughout Sanpitak’s practice. Applied as collage. mawata silk forms a central abstract mass that asserts a powerful physical presence. While the red is a symbol of divine love, the form itself is not representational but emerges from Sanpitak’s ongoing exploration of the body as a vessel—at once fragile and resilient, grounded and transcendent. The tactile, irregular surface invites haptic engagement, holding space for contemplation and embodied experience.
