In Within the Body, Pinaree Sanpitak evokes a contemplative interior landscape through subtle material interplay and symbolic form. A singular, flattened breast shape—what the artist refers to as a “breast cloud”—floats within a dark, textured field of layered fabric and acrylic. Gilded in silver leaf, the form radiates with quiet luminosity, hovering like a held breath or sacred presence. The monochrome black ground, rich with folds and ridges, becomes both body and atmosphere—a space of containment and transcendence. As in much of Sanpitak’s practice, the work holds the intimate and the universal in delicate tension, offering the body not as subject but as vessel for memory, reverence, and transformation.
