Re: flexibility and
restrictions of the work: the ideal for the animation itself is to be
shown in a public space in a large public display as in the led spaces
of a city








In Alfredo's mind, he
imagines installing a sign and showing works outside to the street
He says also doing it on the
façade of Crystal Bridges is alright
Also renting a public display
of its kind installed outside of Crystal Bridges to have it outside:
next to the façade, outside of the roof, renting space on the square

When loaning the work, there
are two options: the work can be displayed outside in a public space and
running the animation outdoors on a rented public display








The second option would be a
very large monitor indoors but the work is essentially a public project
and should be shown outdoors for recreating the public context of the
war
When the work has been shown
indoors, it has been projected at a very large scale and the
documentary is shown alongside it on a smaller screen

The preference for the work
is to project on the wall rather than on a monitor: at a large scale to
give the sense of the scale of the original public display
Mary asked re showing the
work across simultaneous institutions: Alfredo says this would be
marvelous if it could run across multiple institutions at the same time
Alfredo shared that they
would give the original file for projecting and they can assist with
showing it on particular displays with particular formats so that the
work can fit on particular screens








Studio Jaar would make it
fit on the particular display and so the image would not be cut but
instead black bars would be added to the corners and sides that need it
Studio Jaar would just need
the size and display info for displaying
The important thing is that
regardless of the format used, the image must never be used so the goal
is to always make the height fit and then the width has black bars
added on the sides
The original file is
formatted in a mac mini with different formats: .mp4, .mov, and other
current formats used for projection
In 50 to 100 years when
we're all gone, updating the files could be up to the institution's
discretion. At the moment, Studio Jaar updates the formats and updates
them and they would send updated formats as they arise. Studio Jaar
would send copies of the current formats they have
Studio Jaar can also offer
images from installation views across the world and the Studio can
share them at any time with access to all the images for use in
catalogs and reproductions

Environmental considerations
would be in conversation with Studio Jaar with the institution working
with Jaar to design the installation of the work, although in general
the goal is to project as large as possible in a dark space with the
documentation next to the work








The Studio doesn't charge a
fee for working on the design, they just ask for floorplans and suggest
ways to display the work

A site visit is not necessary
for the installation, but Alfredo would love to come for the
installation and give a lecture for programming, etc.








Normally, Alfredo has an
artist fee for lectures, btu for the first invitation the fee is waived
for acquiring the work

Does Studio Jaar have an ideal
projection size as a starting point to begin the conversation: Alfredo
shared starting size would depend on the specificity of the building,
the architecture, and the building








The goal is to be seen from
a couple of blocks away or even 100 feet away

Lelong will prepare catalogs for mailing, as well as pdfs of the essays
for usage in the proposals
